Working in partnership with Trafford Housing Trust under the Laurus Homes brand, the development will comprise of a mix of two, three and four-bedroom family houses, available for sale. Seddon took the project through planning and is appointed to build out the project.
Bought by Trafford Housing Trust from Primrose Developments, the land had an overarching outline planning consent for commercial and residential development and is one of the largest truly mixed use developments within the Borough of Chorley.
The Greenfield site is 10.5 ha and is formally known as Strawberry Fields, next to a brand new £8.4m digital hub which opened in 2019.
The development consists 122 timber-frame houses on Greenfield land. With a range of two to four-bedroom homes, it brings much needed new homes to Chorley with a range of types and tenures to suit different requirements. It consists of:
- 26 for affordable rent
- 61 for open market sale
- 35 for shared ownership
Following consultation, Trafford Housing Trust designed the project to include additional planting to the boundary with properties accessed from Strawberry Fields and the development will provide enhanced separation and privacy distances to the existing homes to protect the privacy and views of residents.
Trafford Housing Trust has committed to including mature and semi-mature planting to the boundary. Financial contributions are also being provided to cover playing pitches, open space and play areas locally, which will benefit both new and existing residents.
By partnering with Trafford Housing Trust and Laurus Homes, we are working to create a new community, providing high-quality, affordable properties for local people; with new public open space for residents to enjoy.
Graeme Scott, Executive Director of Trafford Housing TrustIt’s a popular location, and new, affordable family homes that meet the needs of local people are much needed in the area.
