The works comprised the design and build of 53 two, three and four-bedroom houses and four two-bed flats with associated external works and infrastructure on behalf of Sandwell Metropolitan Borough Council.
A new development at Carisbrooke Road, Wednesbury, which was designed by the council’s Urban Design and Building Services Team with funding provided by Sandwell Metropolitan Borough Council and Homes England.
The development was located on a site previously containing a high rise block and maisonettes which were demolished in 2004. The site then suffered from anti-social behaviour and fly-tipping.
Ground levels across the site varied considerably and presented some difficult challenges resulting in major ground retention works and a surface water attenuation scheme.
The new development consists of a mixture of 53 two, three and four-bed houses and four two-bed flats creating an attractive modern housing layout within a landscaped area providing secure and desirable social housing accommodation.
The dwellings were designed on a lifetime home basis which caters for the needs of the tenants throughout their occupancy.
The scheme completed on time, within budget and there were no reportable accidents and no RIDDORS, therefore the AFR is zero.
