Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service covers 500 square miles comprised of Bolton, Bury. Manchester, Oldham, Rochdale, Salford, Stockport, Tameside, Trafford and Wigan. Reaching 2.8 million people their vision is to make Greater Manchester safe.
Through the Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Painting and Decorating Framework Seddon were awarded via mini-competition the painting and decorating of eight fire stations across the Greater Manchester region.
Works included internal and external painting, redecoration of training rooms, kitchens, living spaces, toilets and showers.
Colour schemes for each site were agreed with the client to modernise and refresh each area.
All works were delivered within a live environment which required precise planning to ensure the safety of the staff using the building and minimise disruption to their activities.
Phasing a sequencing was arranged on a daily basis by our working foreman or site supervisor with the watch commander to ensure that access was available in the required areas. Each site had to be secured and alternate access routes set up to accommodate this.
Due to the works being completed in sequence, the site team had to create precise programmes that ran from site acquisition to handover to ensure there were no delays in the works and movement within sites went smoothly.
