Bolton School is a Grade II listed private school, which is decorated on a seven year cycle, with works taking place during school holidays to mitigate disruption to the staff and students.
Internal decoration of classrooms and corridors with specialist painting to apply gold leaf paint to protected features in limited access areas. The School building has been in occupation from the late 1800’s and is Grade-II listed. Seddon has developed a strong relationship with the school and has successfully delivered over £50m new build and refurbishment projects over the last 10 years.
Four years ago we secured our first opportunity, following numerous successful construction projects. The success of our approach and commitment to delivery is evident; we have been the sole contractor working on a negotiated basis each year and have successfully delivered £500,000 of internal painting and decoration services to date.
Works cover a wide spectrum of areas including the general decoration of classrooms and public areas to high-end locations including the Great Halls, memorial staircase and senior officers offices. These works have included high end papering works to the application of specialist coatings such as ‘gold’ finishes, which require additional focus and coordination with the school facilities team.
Typically, programme periods are extremely tight, as defined by the school holidays and set out by the school, with many areas running simultaneously. All works have consistently been completed on time, within schedule and on budget.
The standard of work required is of the highest standard, even though the school is over 100 years old, everything is high specification. Our painting supervisor produces inspection plans for all works and undertakes daily inspections throughout each contract to ensure all work scheduled for each day is completed to the required quality standard.
