Seddon was appointed to undertake full painting and decoration works to six operational stations across the West Midlands area.
West Midlands Fire and Rescue Service is the third largest fire and rescue service in the UK, with only the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service and London Fire Brigade being larger, and is one of only two fire services in which all stations are full-time.
Seddon completed works at the following:
- Aldridge Fire Station - Complete external decoration of existing painted surfaces.
- Binley Fire Station - Complete internal decoration of existing painted surfaces.
- Bloxwich Fire Station - Complete external decoration of existing painted surfaces (excluding Safeside).
- Bournbrook Fire Station - Complete internal decoration of existing painted surfaces.
- Haden Cross Fire Station - Complete internal decoration of existing painted surfaces.
- Oldbury Fire Safety Building - Complete internal decoration of existing painted surfaces.
Logistics were a key consideration at each station, considering work areas, welfare and staff parking to ensure that full access was available for the fire service and others 24/7, including on the surrounding access roads.
Phasing and sequencing was arranged on a daily basis by our working foreman or site supervisor with the watch commander, to ensure that access was available in the required areas and that disruption to the fire service was minimised.
Following successful completion of all works, Seddon has been appointed as one of three preferred suppliers for all West Midlands Fire Service painting and decoration works.
