Seddon delivered the £2.56m construction scheme which consists of 28 new traditional build dwellings (affordable tenure). Works included associated external works, service diversions, new service installation, drainage infrastructure and highways. The scheme is being delivered on behalf of Knowsley Housing Trust (KHT). Since entering into a contract, KHT have added an additional three-units to the scheme.
Led by our Merseyside Regional Contracts Manager, Daniel Van Den Bos, this scheme started in February 2019 and completed in March 2020 (contract duration 56-weeks).
Works were developed over two-phased and included:
- site new site entrance formed
- site strip, strip footing (mass fill)
- block and beam flooring
- traditional build, brick façade with precast cills
- associated hard and soft landscaping
Seddon led the preconstruction works, including design stage for planning and detailed drawings, discharge of all planning condition and acted as Principal Contractor for the delivery of the scheme.
Project constraints: The site was situated within a tight piece of land, access and egress is a challenge. We positioned site cabins on phase 2 land which was agreed with KHT. The build was carried out in sequence to allow access to plots.
Training opportunities: Seddon are working in conjunction with Knowsley Housing Trust to promote opportunities for apprenticeships within our supply chain. We are also committed to using local labour within a 25-mile radius of the site.
A meet the contractor event took place in January 2019 to allow residents and the community to meet the Seddon and Knowsley Housing Trust construction team.
