Kendal Care Home is a luxury home located on a prominent position conveniently located in Kendal, a historic town which stands at the entrance to the beautiful English Lakes District satisfying the local demand for good quality care.
Kendal Care Home is a 120-bed, four-storey and three-storey care home and 21 two-bed close care apartments of and steel frame construction offering a home from home experience for residents. The home specialises in dementia, mental health and supporting people with physical disabilities.
The development includes a lounge, dining rooms, hair salon, beauty rooms, assisted bathrooms and showers, laundry and main linen store, resident and commercial kitchen, staff changing areas and showers, two 13-person stretcher lifts, nurses station, treatment and drug rooms.
Externally Seddon constructed vehicle access and car parking, drainage, external works, hard and soft landscaping and the provision of all mains services facilities.
Access to the site was through the existing operational hospital staff car park. This required careful planning and management with the hospital’s management team.
Seddon worked closely with the design team including architects Bywater and Tweedale Architects, structural engineer Glyn H Robinson Associates Limited, mechanical engineer REDS Building Services Consultants, acoustic engineers Red Acoustics Limited and landscape architects Huck Partnership.
