This Grade B listed building dates back to 1820 and is set within 4.82 acres of attractive landscaped gardens near Doune in Stirling.
Seddon successfully completed the conversion of the former nursing home transforming it from a 30-bedroom vacant building to a 26-bed specialist care facility. The three-storey building, which covers a staggering 2,069M2 also boasts a multi-gym and a rehabilitation kitchen facility for the residents on the lower ground floor.
The new trauma centre caters for a wide range of individuals suffering from post-traumatic reactions, including Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), complex PTSD, to individuals requiring assessment of treatment of dissociative disorders and personality disorders.
The ground floor has the main public rooms, including dining room, cinema/group therapy room and lounge, a self-contained six-bed unit located in the former orangery - which gives direct access to the gardens - along with two bedsit units, which are designed to help residents gain further independence.
All original features have been preserved or enhanced to safeguard the specialist character of the listed building, including the stonework, interior timber decoration and plasterwork to ceilings.
Significant collaboration and communication was critical in coordinating activities. We ensured that health and safety was a priority and regular site team meetings were held to discuss and overcome any challenges with the delivery of the project, including crucial areas that required design or management resource allocating and prioritising.
