Farnworth Youth Centre Bolton Council

£480K Contract Value
14 Duration (Weeks)

The youth centre project included the internal refurbishment and alterations with a small front extension to an existing property. The centre will help facilitate new council services for the NHS, Social and Youth Workers.

At the end of 2018, we were approached by Bolton Council through the LHC framework to support them with a project to refurbish the Farnworth Youth Centre.

The existing building, a former ambulance station, was currently being used only partially by parent and child groups, a nursery, and a youth club. The Council wished to open up the remainder of the building and bring it into use for additional users including the NHS and social and youth workers.

Funds were very limited and in the early stages of pre-construction the Seddon team provided cost advice and support in value engineering the project to meet the council’s budget.

Works included internal refurbishment and alterations with a small extension to the front of the existing property. The project also included the creation of a covered play area and a brick pram store adjacent to the current building.

The renovated building features new play areas, a family room, a children’s nursery, a multi-purpose activity room as well as health rooms, a pram store, and a new reception area. The new-look facility also serves as a strategic hub for Bolton Council’s Start Well Service.
