Work has begun at Gifford Lea retirement village, located just outside Chester, to build an additional 39 retirement living apartments.
Situated in the Cheshire countryside, Gifford Lea currently offers 104 later living apartments and boasts a range of impressive facilities, which include a wellness spa with relaxation pool, restaurant, bar, hair and beauty salon, gym, craft room and library/cinema room.
Seddon is now underway on construction of phase three of the development, building a further 39 apartments, including 10 affordable homes available as shared ownership or to rent.
When complete in spring 2022, the village will offer 162 retirement properties in total. Phase three will also see the creation of communal areas, including landscaped gardens.
Gifford Lea has a number of coronavirus measures in place that will allow visitors to find out more about life at the village, while keeping them and residents safe. These include a series of 'walk-through' films, which can be experienced from home, and pre-booked property tours.
Jamie Bunce, CEO of Inspired Villages, commented: “Our philosophy is centred on residents’ holistic wellbeing - looking after their physical, social, financial and mental health, whilst encouraging them to enjoy a healthy, happy and independent life.
“This year has shown how the power of community is more important than ever. Gifford Lea provides a safe, secure community for residents to form new friendships and try new activities.
“The development has already been met with high praise and we’re proud to be providing more age-appropriate housing in Cheshire, as well as central facilities that benefit both residents and, once it is safe to do so, the local community.
“This next phase marks an important point in our plans for the future of Gifford Lea, providing additional homes for an ever-increasing market, while continuing our commitment to environmental sustainability. We look forward to enhancing this exceptional village even further.”
Jonathan Seddon, CEO at Seddon, said: “We’ve been involved in the previous two phases of the development of this village and we’re excited to be back for phase three. Inspired Villages has a great vision for what the best retirement living should both look and feel like to the communities that live there. Creating spaces for people to make places and make memories in is what we do best and it’s always great to see developments like this one come to life.”
