The Seddon team recently wrapped up warm and donned Christmas hats to welcome their newest member to his new home at Media City.
The Five Gold Rings Snowman, designed by artist Adam Pekr, is part of the 40th anniversary celebrations of Raymond Briggs’ iconic picture book, The Snowman.
Seddon are sponsoring the Five Gold Rings Snowman as part of Wild in Art’s ‘Walking with The Snowman’ sculpture trail. The trail is the first ever sculpture trail inspired by the well-loved Christmas story, and includes 12 individually decorated giant snowman sculptures, each based on the song, The Twelve Days of Christmas and placed around the 200 acre site.
The sculpture trail is in collaboration with Penguin Ventures and aims to raise money for BBC’s Children in Need. The online auction is now live and the 12 snowmen are being auctioned to raise funds and make a real difference to the lives of disadvantaged children across the UK.
The company also invited local families supported by Urban Outreach and The Bolton Family to take part in a tour on the 10th December, ensuring Bolton residents from disadvantaged backgrounds were able to experience the festive spirit and meet Five Gold Rings in person.
The Seddon snowman is based around the idea of Five Salford Rings. The Snowman is wearing the first ring, a traditional Christmas wreath, around his neck. He is stood on a spinning wheel to represent Salford’s rich history in silk spinning. The two rings on his front are an industrial roller chain and a diamond ring, representing Salford’s economic development. Finally, he is wearing a life ring in case he decides to take a swim in The Quays!
Designer Adam is a Czech-born mural and airbrush artist who has recently painted two giant Bee sculptures for Bee in the City, as well as a giant Robin for Hoodwinked 2018.
Julie Gaskell, Head of Partnerships at Wild in Art, said: “It is fantastic to have Seddon involved with Walking with the Snowman, this is a great free event for families to go and explore over the Christmas holidays and is only made possible by companies sponsoring the sculptures”
Seddon’s snowman can be spotted outside The Alchemist, The Bund, The Quays, Media City until 06 January 2019.
