This year I signed up for the challenge for the first time and thought I better get myself on the training walk to practice before I take on Snowdon!
The first training walk was a circular route from Abbey Village to Darwen Tower. The weather wasn’t the best, but I had my waterproofs, hat and scarf to keep me warm.
I was a little nervous about getting to Darwen as I hadn’t driven there before, but Diane offered me a lift and I happily took her up on it! I’d also never walked up to Darwen Tower, so I was looking forward to walking somewhere new. Throughout the walk Vanessa asked us if we were warm enough, offering out hats and scarves to people who didn’t have them.
I got the chance to speak to people I hadn’t met or spoken too before which was nice, and it was a great chance to speak to others about the upcoming challenge ahead of us.
I really enjoyed the walk and I would recommend them to others. We were back at the meeting point by lunchtime, so we still got the rest of the afternoon to ourselves – I also got to meet a llama along the way!
We'll be taking on Mount Snowdon in May for our annual charity challenge, for more information and to sponsor the team please see our Just Giving page here.
