SUPPORTING THE LONG TERM UNEMPLOYED

Support

More than 1.46 million people in the UK are unemployed, and experts predict long term unemployment will likely continue to rise for the next few years. This can significantly reduce an individual’s chances of securing work in the future, as well as leading to physical and mental health issues. Low unemployment rates allow communities to thrive, and Seddon are committed to supporting the communities within which we operate to bloom.

When Bolton based Administrative Manager, Lisa Briggs, was made redundant from a leading supermarket she struggled to secure alternative employment. Lisa dedicated eight hours each day to searching and applying for jobs, often competing against hundreds of other candidates. New prospects were far more limited than she expected but although at times she felt dejected, she persevered.

In August 2023, after months of unsuccessful job hunting, Lisa secured a temporary position at Seddon as a Catering and Reception Assistant. Seddon recognised Lisa’s potential and the transferrable skills which she would bring to her new role. Seddon would also provide Lisa with the opportunity to learn new skills, such as reception and catering management,HR & accounts administration.Lisa has now secured a permeant position with Seddon as Catering & Reception Assistant.
