New two-storey modular classroom extension
The Pines is an all-age special school with a nursery class educating pupils with a diagnosis of Autistic Spectrum Condition (ASC) and associated learning and communication and interaction difficulties.
Following a period of significant growth in student numbers, Seddon were appointed early in 2022 to construct a new two-storey modular classroom to expand the school’s premises. We created foundations and installed the new double storey modular building, constructed off-site, installing a lift. We also undertook some exterior works including the extension and and resurfacing of car-park areas, and fencing works.
Project challenges
The programme presented the greatest challenge, as works had to be complete in time for the new term in September. Seddon maintains a database of 1,500 preferred supply chain partners; subcontractors, suppliers and design specialists. Vetted and approved through Constructionline and an independent third-party safety scheme, any subcontractor, supplier or designer wishing to work for Seddon undergoes rigorous checks and is managed to a stringent process to ensure their suitability and ability to deliver.
Working collaboratively with our selected team we were therefore able to achieve a fast-tracked installation of the modular units to achieve September handover ready for occupation for the new term.
