Sedbergh School lies in the heart of Cumbria in the small town of Sedbergh. It has been a boarding school since all the way back to 1525. The earliest building is likely to have been on the site of the current school library which was built in 1716. The campus is spread over 300 acres of stunning rural countryside and is made up of both traditional and modern buildings.
The work Seddon were appointed to undertake various preparation and redecoration of both internals and externals of the school and accommodation blocks.
Careful planning and coordination Working alongside the Sedbergh Estates Team we ensured disruption to staff and students was always kept to a minimum and the quality of work exceeded their expectations.
We continue to have a great working relationship with Sedbergh on a year by year negotiated basis.
Challenges Challenges to the project include a restrictive time schedule, work had to be completed in the school holidays and after school hours to avoid interruption to learning and the boarding students. We also had to work to preserve original to ensure no damage or changes to the historic fabric of the buildings.
