NWHC SEND Refurbishment North Warwickshire & Hinckley College

£215K Contract Value
9 Duration (Weeks)

Refurbishment and reconfiguration of North Warwickshire and Hinckley College’s Arts Block and SEND Facility. The works comprise the refurbishment of the cafe, kitchens, corridors, florist, workshop and the reconfiguration of space to create a flat, therapies room and hygiene room.

The works also involve the modification of the existing mechanical and electrical services to enable refurbishment and reconfiguration.

The completed Facility provides a SEND, Special Educational Needs and Disabled, facility. This will be used to educate and train special needs students in living in the accommodation and using kitchen and hygiene equipment.

The site was contained within a busy college campus, with sports fields and car parks to two sides and college buildings to the other two sides. The Nuneaton Campus for North Warwickshire and Hinckley College is surrounded by residential buildings to all boundaries. The site was also on the ground floor of a two-storey building, with the 1st floor remaining as a teaching facility. It was therefore critical to ensure that disruption was minimised throughout the works.

Deliveries were restricted between the times of 08:15-09:00 and 16:00-17:00 to mitigate any disruption of the college’s teaching. Formal fortnightly meetings were established with the client to discuss progress and any concerns. Our site manager was available daily if required and ensured all planned works were communicated and agreed. The project was both cost and programme driven, with no contingency to fall back on.

Our commercial team were also able to provide 90% cost certainty prior to starting on site through early engagement with our in-house trades and local supply chain partners.
