Business Update

/ News

Following on from our last communication, and as we approach almost two months of careful operations being delivered under a Covid19 regime, we thought it appropriate to share a further update with you all.

We’ve taken a methodical approach to delivering projects on site, factoring in the needs and requirements of our customers and partners, but keeping our main focus on the safety of our people and the most efficient use of resources.

We are still some way from optimal conditions, as supply of materials and labour remains below pre -Covid19 levels, however we are working on a return to delivery on a phased basis, made possible due to the diligence of our people, the ongoing support of our supply chain partners and the patience and understanding of our customers.

The guidance issued by the Government and Construction Leadership Council set out clear guidelines for social distancing measures to be taken on site which has provided us with an ideal opportunity to challenge the ‘norm’ and look for new ways of working. Key to providing a safe working environment has been adoption of the Site Operating Procedures, providing specific guidance with regards to social distancing and hygiene on site.

With the obvious constraints around physical space, we’ve also redesigned our communications to take advantage of interactive digital platforms. We have successfully trialled and introduced a new online site induction system, using cloud base software, which allows our site teams to be inducted to site prior to arrival. The inductions themselves use video, stills and narration and also allow for data capture; all of this replaces paper based systems, and our Site Management teams have access to real time dashboards, allowing them to check induction records, certification and other necessary information, quickly and easily, allowing them to focus on delivery. The induction as well as the Site Operating Procedures can be accessed online at any time using a desktop, laptop, tablet or smart phone.

We are also working towards a gradual re-opening of our office spaces, however the majority of our support functions continue to work from home, with office spaces used only to perform tasks that require a physical presence in the office. As with site based operations, all the necessary safeguards around hygiene and social distancing are being implemented and observed.

We continue to meet daily, to review the ongoing situation, factoring in the latest Government and Industry advice, and we will do our best to keep you all updated, so please continue to check our website news feed and our social media channels.

In the interim, if you need to contact a member of the Seddon Team, please do so by emailing enquiries@seddon.co.uk or ringing our Head Office on 01204 570400.

We’d like to take this opportunity to thank you all for your understanding and patience; the only thing that remains to be said at this point is please stay safe and look after each other.
