Innovation Centre 5 is the latest facility to be completed at Keele University’s flagship science and innovation park and offers almost 30,000 sq ft of accommodation including high quality office, laboratory and workshop space for knowledge and innovation-intensive businesses.
Keele University and Staffordshire County Council worked in close partnership to develop the business park in order to attract technology businesses and start-ups that can take advantage of highly lettable business accommodation, state-of-the-art shared facilities to foster university and business collaboration and the ability to recruit from a pool of highly educated graduates. The new building is expected to general around 120 new jobs.
The high specification building’s three separate wings provide ample space for accommodating medical, technology and engineering enterprises and was constructed with a combination of brickwork, aluminium curtain walling and timber boarding together with a landscaped courtyard. The clean, crisp lines of the building offer a modern feel with exposed steel beams, glass balustrading to staircases and an overall open, light and airy feel with floor to ceiling windows in certain areas with brise soleil solar protection. The project also included associated external hard and soft landscaping.
