FOUNDATION FOR THE FUTURE

Introduction

Seddon have been supporting Foundation for the Future, a charity set up and managed by our client Bolton at Home, for several years. Foundation for the Future is a charitable initiative that works in Romania, Hungary and Slovenia to assist on projects aimed at improving community wellbeing. Foundation for the Future provides opportunities for young people from challenged backgrounds to carry out volunteer work abroad with the partner charities. The aim of the initiative is twofold; to provide the charities with much needed manpower to help build or renovate sustainable infrastructure and facilities; to provide the young volunteers invaluable experience, key skills, and a rare sense of accomplishment by helping them to change lives for the better.

Foundation for the Future

Foundation for the Future programmes are for people that love to get their hands dirty, strive to make a tangible difference and leave a lasting impact. It provides the opportunity for young people to gain international experience, mastering crucial employability, intercultural, and interpersonal skills such as communication, teamwork, project management, problem solving, time management, empathy and adaptability.

In June 2023, Seddon volunteers and partners packed their bags, dusted off their passports and rolled up their sleeves to support the charity Soncek, the Cerebral Palsy Association of Slovenia. Soncek is a grass-roots organisation that supports and unites over 4000 children, youth and adults with cerebral palsy and other disabilities, as well as their relatives. They fight to ensure that all opportunities are equal, regardless of a person’s physical or intellectual abilities. The charity was crying out for help as their grounds, buildings and communal areas were desperate for some TLC. Volunteers helped with several redevelopment tasks, including:

  • Basic building repairs and renovation.
  • Enhanced facilities by building resources such as shelving and furniture.
  • Helped to install waste management and rainwater harvesting systems.
  • Painting building walls, classrooms and other equipment.
  • Helped to create and cultivate community gardens
