Bradley Lydiate’s Story

Bradley was in his final year at Salford City College studying a full time joinery diploma, but had struggled to secure any relevant site experience.

In collaboration with the college, Seddon were able to offer Bradley an Industry Partner Placement at our housing site in Irwell Valley, Salford. Bradley gained vital experience working on site with industry professionals one day per week for six months, totalling 176 hours.

Paul Maher, Joinery Manager, said “Bradley really stood out, he was committed from day one and even carried on with his placement during the Easter holidays.”

Following the success of this Industry Partner Placement, Bradley was subsequently offered full time employment with Seddon as an apprentice.

Nice work Brad!

"When my tutor asked me about an Industry Placement opportunity at Seddon, I jumped at the chance to be involved. It gave me hands on experience of what it would be like to work in construction and helped to build my confidence, whilst also affirming that joinery was the right choice for me. I cannot thank my manager, Paul Maher, enough for the opportunity that he has given me."

Lawrence Ward’s Story

As part of our drive to encourage more organisations within our industry to train, we have engaged extensively with our supply chain partners and CITB creating the CITB Club.

CITB Club provides practical advice and guidance  for our  supply chain regarding training, apprenticeships, work placements and funding.  We also introduce our supply chain partners  to the Industry Partner Initiative with Salford City College.

The initiative was favourably received and as a result, young learner, Lawrence, was offered an Industry Partner Placement with our supply chain  partner North West Brickwork.

Since completing his placement, Lawrence  has been offered full time employment with the company as an apprentice bricklayer.

Congratulations Lawrence!

"I was thrilled when I was offered the opportunity of an Industry Partnership Placement with Seddon’s supply chain partner, Northwest Brickwork. It enabled me to gain practical experience working on construction sites within a bricklaying gang.  I’m even more delighted that the placement has now resulted in an apprenticeship with the company. I’m thankful to Seddon for introducing Northwest Brickwork to the Industry Partnership Scheme."
