Painting & Maintenance are delivering internal and external repairs and decoration to over 580 properties which includes flats and houses across York. This has now extended to off-shooting void properties and decoration and repairs to council owned buildings in parks due the City of York council receiving an increased budget.
Eight in-house painters are currently undertaking a variety of works which include external repairs to gutters, doors and fascia boards. Internal repairs and decoration with Dulux paint includes work to the ceilings, walls, woodwork and stripping of wallpaper where required.
Stakeholder Engagement
The team has a great rapport with the council, with our non working foreman liaising weekly meetings on site and monthly meetings via teams. These meetings allow the council and our team to discuss the progress, the programme and any issues or concerns that require open and honest communication.
As we have worked with the council on previous projects, we have developed an excellent relationship, gaining trust and loyalty to continue delivering excellent outcomes.
Social Value
The council requested local employment and apprentices throughout the duration for this contract. Josh Grad, an apprentice, is a key member of the Yorkshire team, and has been working alongside our local painters to carry out these works.
Foxfield Community Centre is within the areas that our team is carrying out work, and it is a vital hub for community gatherings and events. The store cabin is adjacent to the centre, and the team paid for the electricity bill and painted some of the internal areas at no cost.
Sustainability
Seddon take great care and extra caution in relation to the environment and the team made sure empty paint tins are collected and sent back to the local depot to be recycled.
Seddon understands the importance of doing whatever we can to reduce our carbon footprint. During this project, the team van shared using one electric van and one hybrid van to reduce our carbon emissions.
