Set up in 2004, Oasis Community Learning aims to transform learning lives and communities through the development of the Oasis Academies. The six year framework, worth £150,000 to £250,000 per year, includes internal decoration works to 15 of the organisation’s North based academies.
Oasis Community Learning (OCL) is one of the largest multi-academy trusts in England, established in 2004 with a vision to create exceptional education at the heart of the community. They have since grown into a family of 98 academies.
In 2016, Seddon was appointed to their £1m - £2m framework to undertake internal and external painting works for the 15 academies which are based in the North of England, which stretches from the Manchester area up to Bradford, across to Sheffield and Wintringham.
We have direct allocation on all 15 schools and are in the third year of a six year MTC framework.
The works were procured on a schedule of rates based on the P.S.A National Schedule. All works are generally carried out during the half term and summer shut down periods to mitigate any disruption. Works cover the entirety of the school comprising classrooms, corridors, staircases, dining area, sports halls and welfare facilities.
Despite a slow start to the framework due to the client being new to this type of contract, we are now in a position to programme the 12 months period in advance taking into account each school’s needs. This is done by the client prioritising each school on a scale of one to five and agreeing the associated budgets for each school. We then use the P.S.A National Schedule to price up the works then agree the extent of works to be undertaken.
The relationship between Seddon and Oasis is paramount to ensure that client and end-user expectations are met that the best value is delivered for each school. Our initial contact is with the regional asset manager and once the works are agreed and finalised we liaise directly with the head of each school to agree start dates and times.
Our relationship with Oasis is very good and we have helped them through the transition into this type of contract.
