In April 2012, Entrust, a joint venture company between Staffordshire County Council (SCC) and Capita, tendered a three year NEC3 Framework contract to build schools in South Staffordshire and to improve education provision across the region. In January 2013, Seddon was awarded the construction of a new two-storey primary school, Scientia Academy, as part of the framework.
The new school was designed to create a light, open environment with four interlinking blocks providing space for 420 pupils.
Built on the old Coors Brewery sports fields and Belvedere Park Bowls Club, the works included:
- Reach2 operated primary academy school
- 14 classes plus nursery
- 4D interaction hub
- Sports pitches and extensive external play areas
The state of the art facility coupled with a design that encompassed modern construction methods has provided a valuable contribution to the local economy. The project was delivered within the client’s budget and on programme. It demonstrated a truly collaborative approach to delivery,
